What is DHA?

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid that is a primary structural component of the human brain, cerebral cortex, skin, and retina. Dietary sources include wild fish, fish oil, and meat from animals that feed on their natural food (e.g., grass-fed beef).

What does Developmental Delay mean?

The slowing of the normal rate of neurological and emotional maturation of a child. Often the result of excessive inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, and improper neuronal pruning.

What is Developmental Arrest?

The complete stoppage of the neurological and emotional maturation of a child. Often the result of excessive inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, and improper neuronal pruning.

Do I need to detox before starting The Nemechek Protocol?

No. My patients recover without needing to address the heavy metal issue or undergoing a detoxification process of any sort. Additionally, the supplements required for detoxing, cleansing or chelation are not compatible with this protocol and could negatively impact recovery.

Is it safe to detox at the same time as I do this protocol?

No, my patients recover without needing to address the heavy metal issues or detox. Additionally many of the supplements required for detoxing are not compatible with this protocol and could negatively impact recovery. Additionally, systemic inflammation as well as the imbalance of gut bacteria both may impair the body’s natural ability to chelate. On a practical level, the kids I treat recover without needing to address the heavy metal issue. Normalization of inflammation and gut balance possibly triggers a natural, safe and inexpensive chelation process.

My child runs and climbs a lot. He can be quite destructive also. We are using a trampoline and gym to try and tire him out but still he is very hyper. What else can we do?

In children with somewhat destructive hyperactivity, I will recommend using midodrine. Midodrine is a prescription medication that can boost brain blood pressure and, in a majority of the kids, will cut the hyperactivity often by 30-50%. Parents often report the children often seem happier and less distressed from anxiety or aggressive tendencies.nnMidodrine is a pure crutch to be used while waiting for the child’s nervous system to recover enough that the child can discontinue the medication.nnMost pediatricians are unfamiliar with midodrine and will not prescribe it. Neurologists are generally familiar since it is used in patients with autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

Can The Nemechek Protocol benefit persons with Chronic Depression?

Yes. The Nemechek Protocol for Autonomic Recovery is designed to reduce elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and the presence of abnormally primed M1- microglia. These 2 pathological processes prevent recovery from brain injury, interfere with neuronal/synaptic pruning, interfere with brain development in utero, and are a key feature of the neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS). It is capable of reversing a wide range of chronic neurological conditions (migraine and cluster headaches, chronic fatigue, generalized anxiety, depression/PTSD, ADD/ADHD) as well as intestinal disorders (heartburn, reflux, IBS, constipation, diarrhea, etc.), and it’s potent anti-inflammatory effect substantially reduces symptoms associated with autoimmune disorders (Crohn’s, psoriasis, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s, etc.)

My child has been diagnosed with depression, can the protocol help?

Yes, children with chronic depression often see their depression ultimately resolved while on the protocol.

Is de-worming allowed?

If there is evidence of intestinal worms, then yes, treatment for this is allowed.

My child has dark circles under their eyes. What is that from and can the protocol fix it?

Dark circles under the eyes are often associated with a collection of allergy-based illnesses (e.g., allergic rhinitis, asthma, and eczema) referred to as atopy. Your allergic reactions are a form of inflammation triggered by substances in the environment that cause an abnormal release of inflammatory chemicals that include but are not restricted to only histamine. nnThe Nemechek Protocol’s primary focus is to reduce excessive inflammation and improve the regulation of the immune system. Many parents report an improvement in their child’s allergy symptoms, including the purplish coloration beneath the eyes.
